The US is thriving economicaly because during WW2 (at the begining) they didn't fight...all they did was gear there economy towards producing weapons to sell to countrys over in Europe. So they made huge money (which also brought them out of depresion). And even when the US started into the fighting none of the fighting was on home ground (excluding pearl harbour, which turned out alot better for the US then it should have) so they were able to continue making money producing weapons and such without having their country torn apart. Sure some other countrys could have followed suit (like canada) but they either weren't cabable or were stupid (canada was just emerging as a country and didn't have the population base for the same sort of manufactoring and production as the states did). When i say pearl harbour turned out well for the US it did... the plan by the japs was to catch the US's whole fleet in pearl harbour and sink atleast one of the carriers. For some reason, lucky for the US the carriers where out of pearl harbour when the attack came so the japs didnt get them.
