October 2, 200816 yr Get speedfan from google. Run game in window and watch the tempurature of your CPU go crazy and over 65 degrees. Its an overheating issue. Either get a better cooler of talk to the manufacturer.
October 2, 200816 yr sounds like svchost turns up to 100% cpu usage to me, this can be caused by many factors. Have you tried to start up task manager and see what process is exactly exhausting your whole system?

That was happening to me to, until I installed CCleaner. It fixed my 9,000 registry issues and saved me 5GB of worthless crap. My hard drive is small so that means a lot to me. I noticed that the lag was considerably lower due to the fixed registry errors.
October 3, 200816 yr Choking Victim;587794']nope CPU doesnt get above 62 degrees when playing games Ouch. Don't buy any AMD Windsor CPUs. They are old 90nm and suck up lots of power, generating more heat than the Brisbane cores.
October 3, 200816 yr it could be over heating. could be a hd going bad too, just happened to me. it was such a pain in the ass the narrow it down. i have 4 1 gig sticks so memtests were a pain. im running a 5 disk raid too and hd tests are a pain. it sounds like you might need to re - apply the thermal paste or see if the fan on the heat sink is clogged with dust or inside the heatsink fins. and make sure you have air flow over the ram, coud be ram too. October 3, 200816 yr You must stand on one leg, in a bucket filled with the urine of a Chinese rice farmer while holding onto a duck in one hand, and three(3) golf balls ouch stretched in the other. You must then coerce the duck to quack by either blowing on it, or squeezing it. As soon as the duck quacks, throw the three(3) golf balls into the bucket of urine your foot is in as hard as you can. -If the urine slashes up higher than your belt line, then the computer will be fixed. Go and enjoy your working computer. -If the urine splashes up, but is between belt line and foot, computer is broken and cannot be fixed. Build a new one. -If urine splashes up all the way onto your face, reset and repeat the experiment. Thank you for joining me on another episode of 'Tips from Captian', until next time, Stay Classy!.

Yay Dell D600. Also: Choking Victim, I've got the same issue as you, but mine does it with any application that uses the 3D accelerator in the computer. I think my svchost hits 100% too... Any fixes for that?

Try a clean install, the svchost running at 100% could be all kinds of stuff. If after a clean install your host.exe service runs like that means there's a hardware issue with the motherboard. Might need a replacement. Replacement motherboards on laptops sometimes run around 1k$.
