Posted December 6, 200816 yr My current computer is 5 years old and I think it's time for me to get a new one; it freezes randomly for no reason and is at the point where I can no longer functionally use it. So right now I don't have much money and I just want to purchase a pre-built computer and be done with it, I'm not to concerned about buying the fastest computer on the market. Anyways I've narrowed it down to these 2 computers, and I'm not sure which one to get. So here they are... I like this one, because when I went to Fry's electronics, it was very small and compact I liked that a lot, it has a very clean look to it. But I'm not sure if I'm sacrificing performance for looks. Acer AX3200- U3630A Desktop PC featuring AMD Phenom™ X3 Triple-Core 8450 Processor Price: $ 599.99 * AMD Phenom™ X3 Triple-Core 8450 Processor (Operates at 2.1GHz, 512KB X 3 L2 cache) * Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1 * NVIDIA® GeForce® 8200 Chipset * 4096MB DDR2 Memory, Dual Channel * Integrated NVIDIA® GeForce® 8200 graphics solution * 640GB SATA II (7200RPM, 8MB Cache) * Blu-ray Disc™/DVD-Super Multi Double-Layer Drive * Multi-in-One Digital Media Card Reader * 56k ITU v.92 ready Fax/Modem (RJ-11 port) * Optimized Dolby Home Theater® * 9 - USB 2.0 Ports (5 Front, 4 Rear) * 1 - IEEE 1394 Port (1 Rear) * 1 - HDMI Port * 1 - eSata Port * Amplified Stereo Speakers (USB Powered) * Acer USB keyboard * USB Optical Mouse http://shop2.frys.com/product/5726492?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Then there is this one, which is slightly more expensive, and comes in your run of the mill case, nothing special about it. But I think it might have better performance, I'm really not sure, It's been to long since I've been into building computers that I no longer know whats good and whats bad. Acer AM5621-U5631A Desktop PC is Powered by Intel® Core™2 Quad Q8200 Processor Price: $ 699.99 * Intel® Core™2 Quad Q8200 Processor (Operates at 2.33GHz * Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1 * Intel® G33 Chipset * 6144MB DDR2 Memory, Dual Channel * Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 * 640GB SATA II (7200RPM, 8MB Cache) * Multi-in-One Digital Media Card Reader * 56k ITU v.92 ready Fax/Modem (RJ-11 port) * 10 - USB 2.0 Ports (4 Front, 6 Rear) * 1 - IEEE 1394 Port (1 Rear) * Amplified Stereo Speakers (USB Powered) * Acer USB keyboard * USB Optical Mouse * 18X DVD+/-R/RW SuperMulti Drive featuring Labelflash™ Technology http://shop2.frys.com/product/5726472?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG So it's between those two. Just out of curiosity can these computers play current games? It's been a while since I have been able to play games on my computer. Thanks for the help.
December 6, 200816 yr The AMD system has the better integrated video and a BluRay drive, so I'd get that and install a 4670 in there for some real gaming performance, being that the AMD system is 100 dollars cheaper. And if Russel_crowe comes in here to flame AMD then just call his PC a dinosaur.

I'll look into the 4670, seems reasonably priced, I just wonder if it will fit into the comp, since that case is really tiny. When I was at Fry's looking at it, I was surprised they fit a computer into it.

December 6, 200816 yr If you're not building it yourself, go with AMD system and put a better video card in there. I suggest a minimum of an ATI RADEON HD4850. Doesn't matter which one you chose though, both are complete garbage and have useless bullshit you will never need. Like speakers and fax modem, don't need those. Edit : I looked at the case for the AMD system, looks like you wont be able to fit any normal extension cards. Just look for a better system somewhere else.

Doesn't bother me if I can't add any extra cards to it, I'm just getting a comp so that I don't have to deal my current POS that keeps freezing on me. All I really do is watch movies and listen to music. So for the mean time I think I will get the AMD comp, and maybe later on when I really want to throw some cash down I will get my self something good. I think for what I'm looking for this comp will suite my needs and then some.
December 6, 200816 yr Don't get either. Both are shitty. You can find better prebuilt rigs than those and you can definitely make better rigs for that price. I suggest you build something so you can actually get pretty good gaming performance without paying out the ass by buying the parts on top of buying the rig. Yes, it actually takes a little bit of work to do since you have to go find the right parts yourself. However, you don't even have to built the son of a bitch yourself once you receive the parts since there are plenty of computer places that will do that for you. At least consider this option since you can get everything you want without forcing you to pay for the shit you don't want. Also, never buy a computer because it looks good. Who cares if it looks like a homeless guy took a shit in a box. It is only how it performs that matters. People who buy computers that look good go out and buy macs (see: trendy hipster college kids). It comes with a 99.99% inherent probability of being a douchebag =D _ph0ne_ANGRI said: The AMD system has the better integrated video and a BluRay drive, so I'd get that and install a 4670 in there for some real gaming performance, being that the AMD system is 100 dollars cheaper. This laptop was not built for gaming. Hopefully this time you will actually be able to comprehend this entire paragraph so I don't have to repeat myself one more time.

December 8, 200816 yr Intergrated, that is shit. Cyberpower pc has same price but with real unintergrated graphics cards.
