December 11, 200816 yr Why the hell is aspirin so popular in the US? Is paracetamol and codeine expensive over there or something? codeine is restricted to Rx only because it is an opiate paracetamol is called Tylenol here and its very popular also
December 12, 200816 yr Why the hell is aspirin so popular in the US? Is paracetamol and codeine expensive over there or something? There's three main over the counter painkillers/antiinflammatory agents. Ibuprofen and Aspirin, which are Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs, and Acetaminophen, also known as Tylenol. Acetaminophen is actually the most widespread used painkiller, mostly because there are usually no allergic responses to the drugs, unlike the NSAIDs. Ironically, the mechanism of acetaminophen isn't really that well known. Aspirin is popular in the U.S. because it acts by inhibiting COX2 and reducing production of TXA2. What this does is that not only does it reduce pain by reducing inflammation, but also it reduces the risk of clot formation, effectively acting as a blood thinner. It's more effective at this compared to ibuprofen, which is why it's commonly taken long term in people who are at risk for arterial clotting. Acetaminophen does not have any sort of anticlotting benefit, which is why it's not taken long term like aspirin. In addition, acetaminophen overdose causes acute liver toxicity, and also can become carcinogenic in people who are drinking alcohol and taking it simultaneously. Codeine is an opioid that's illegal to obtain without a prescription, so needless to say, it's not really that commonly used in the U.S. Edited December 12, 200816 yr by Dr. House

December 13, 200816 yr I have some hemroid type thing on my buttcrack plz help doctor if I knive the lump will it go away?
December 13, 200816 yr knobjockey;599088']I have some hemroid type thing on my buttcrack plz help doctor if I knive the lump will it go away? It will go away on its own. As long as it's not actively bleeding, you don't have to do anything to it, just make sure you don't act too rough on it. Using a knife on the lump is a terrible idea, considering the location. Feces contains probably more bacteria and infectious material than any other excretion in your body. Popping a hemorrhoid will cause bacteria to enter the wound and possibly cause infection. Just give it time and it'll go away in a few days. In addition, to avoid future incidents of hemorrhoids, drink more water and eat some raisin bran or total instead of dounuts. That way you don't have to strain yourself and risk getting more hemorrhoids or a hernia trying to take a dump. http://calorielab.com/news/wp-images/post-images/total-cereal-box.jpg
December 13, 200816 yr First off I don't eat fruits or vegetables because they taste like shit, maybe I'll have a salad once every few months but that's it and I've never had a nosebleed so we can toss dr. dipshits analysis out the window. and second some constant nosebleed situations are related to cancer. See X-Files for details.

See X-Files for details. "People who have melanoma have sun exposure, therefore, everyone who is exposed to the sun will get melanoma." That's essentially the logic you are applying in an attempt to troll. Just because you don't eat salad and don't get nosebleed doesn't mean it's the case for everyone. Chronic nosebleeds are very rarely caused by cancer, although it is a possibility. Taking into the fact that he is also probably of a younger age group, the likelihood of cancer is much lower than, say a 60 year old, simply because the incidence of cancer rises exponentially with age. That's not to say that it is impossible that it's leukemia or some sort of tumor in the nasopharynx, but it's just rare.
December 13, 200816 yr Since we're on the topic of rare, ghizzle, do you have a problem with clotting when you get cut or bruises? Ie, if you get cut with anything (I'll leave the trolling about this statement to anyone else on the forum), do you find that it takes a VERY long time for the bleeding to stop? Also, any family history of hemophilia?

December 13, 200816 yr knobjockey;599106']ok sir ty I havent had to strain tho cause I had food poisoning forawhile and was shitting water but anyways i will follow your advice doc thanks Oh, well in that case, it's totally the opposite. Excessive diarrhea is also a cause of hemorrhoids. Doesn't mean you shouldn't get more fiber, but in your case, it's not due to constipation. Like I said, it'll heal on it's own, and the hemorrhoid is due to food poisoning. (See why it's important to provide a complete medical history? That extra info changes everything)
