Well, with the rising gas prices I decided to shop around for a new car. After snooping around and checking out the deals I am VERY drawn to the Ford Fusion. The front end and the body looks great, and If you test drive one of these puppy's they ride beautifully, have tons of room (trunk too), and even the 4-cylinder had plenty of get up and go. It just so happens that I have an Uncle that works at the Ford Dealership, so I can get the D-Plan pricing, which is what employees pay.

For a 2009 4-Cyl (160hp) with the following features:

-Power moonroof

-Rear spoiler

-Leather Seats (might not be getting, the cloth is much more comfortable)

It lists for $22,000, but with $3000 Cash back and the D-Plan I will paying around: $17,000 That's with Tax, Tag, and Title. Financing at 4.9% APR would put my payments at under $300 a month. Apparently it also has 5-Star crash test ratings.

I also looked at Honda and Toyota, the 2009 Camry drove decent, but it's odd under braking, and the edmunds reviews weren't that positive. The local Honda dealership is out of their fucking minds. A 2009 Honda Civic was around $22,000 with no rebates or financing offers. I had a 2008 Toyota Yaris, until I was involved in a crash (not my fault) leaving me with a $29,000 cash settlement. It was totaled.

What does myg0t think of this deal?

Gas prices aren't really rising unless ur poor or some shit.

Being a mechanic, I can say I would never buy a ford in my life. Well...maybe an 03/04 Cobra.

I think the deal is crap since you can find a much better car than a piece of shit ford fusion. Buy a better car and stop looking at econo shit loser.

LoL. I'm obviously poor If I'm looking to purchase a new vehicle cash. Also why the fuck would I buy a piece of shit like a Dodge/Chevy. Can't count how many time's I've see a Dodge broke down. I currently own a 2003 Explorer, and get about 15mpg. I drive 45 miles to work everyday, so It does add up. I've never had any mechanical issues with it, so check your facts at the door.

I'm not in the market for anything other than a small economy car as my daily driver.

My facts come from fixing cars at a reputable shop. I can tell you new Chevy's dominate new Ford products in reliability. I've worked on plenty of explorers, more-so than dodge/chevy suv's as well; but I know common problems for each model.

Seeing broken down cars is an idiotic way to make an assumption about a vehicles reliability. I see plenty of each brand broken down on roads.

lol @ paying cash when you say you will be making payments earlier.

I don't really know much about car prices in the US, but fuck... I'm sure that in this price range you can get much better cars than a piece of shit Fusion.

You aren't ready to buy a car just yet. do research before you do man.

I wouldn't pay anything close to $17k for that.

I spent about a month searching for a decent replacement for my is300. I got a 05 rx8 with 40k miles on it for $13k otd. The reason why you need to do your homework is so you can go negotiate with the car dealerships. Brought him down from $17,250 to $13,200 otd.

check out hyundai. great warranty, great milage, comfy ride. you can get a year old hyundai elantra for about maybe $10k or a new one for $16k. don't limit yourself to just a couple brands.

If you weren't concerned with gas prices I would say go with a truck. Dealers can't get full size trucks off their lots, and are willing to take just about anything right now. They are literally piling up on the docks.

I just got an F150 King Ranch, quad cab 4x4 Nav leather ect. (all available options). MSRP was 46, sticker was 39. I paid $27,000 out the door (taxes included)

They just can't move them right now, so if you know how to shop around and pit the dealerships against each other you can work the system for some AMAZING deals right now.

If you really don't want a truck, I would still recommend going with a toyota over the ford. If all you want is a reliable car to get from A to B, but a cheap new Camry or something like it. If you want something that is a little more fun go with a used sport/econ car, like a nice eclipse.

If you live on the west coast : I am selling a 2005 RSX-S. Good gas mileage and tons of power. Turbo 6spd tons of mods. PM for details.

Hey, I like ecplipses. They got a cool center console so you are are sectioned off from the passenger. Plus they are quick as hell. I was in love with my GSX before I totaled it. I looked for another one for a long ass time, but I only found 1 for sale near me, and the guy wanted a ridiculous amount.

Settled with the RSX-S I have now, which turned out to be a really good car once I put some money into it. Handles good, stops on a dime, and lights the tires up like nothing. The only thing I don't like about it is FWD.

I just bought the truck only because I got such a deal on it, plus I've been wanting a lifted truck for a LONG time, but have been too caught up with being a "ricer", LMAO.

I need something that can pull a trailer now, plus it's awesome being able to see over everyone in traffic, and not having to swerve around potholes ect. I love it so far, but the 5.6l definitely makes me pay for that at the pump. :ugh:

And looks who's talking about being a ricer... I've seen your ride.

LOL

We got the fartcans on it to trick ppl lol. Eclipses are slow and I have not been impressed at all by turbo hondas. Even the 400whp ones are slow compared to my camaro I sold.

Get an A6, you mother fucker.

those king ranches are beauties.

ford trucks have been the best we have had out of 1 chevy 5 -8 dodges and 10+ fords. ( my dad has a hvac company since 81' ) we had a 95 f350 dually crew cab long bed with the 460 in it. it got 11 mpg whether it was loaded down with the wind blowing in the opposite direction or downhill with a tail wind. 200,000 miles of abuse and we let it sit for a year and it fell apart though :/. good trucks, but dont like fords cars. i have a 94 intrepid myself that i got for free and it has no rust. original alternator went out last night along with the belt with 160k on it. not bad really. we put a shit load of miles on all our other stuff though. we have 170k on a 06-07 chrysler mini van...

wow tl;dr

I'm doing a water pump and a timing belt on a 94 intrepid now actually lawl. The water pumps like to die and sometimes seize, thus wetting the belt with antifreeze, weakening it and eventually snapping it.

Pretty easy tho.

The new chevy trucks are fucking awesome motor wise. 20mpg from the 5.3 motor. LS series engines are amazing and are super reliable. Interiors being plastic = gay tho.

i thought the new accords were pretty badass.

I'm absolutely loving the truck so far, but only have about 650 miles on it so I can't speak for much. The interior is really comfortable and nice. The 5.4l puts out plenty of power (~330 after chip/exhaust), and the tranny shifts smoothly even under power.

I'm going to lift it about 4" and put some nicer rims/tires on it, and get the front windows tinted probably in the next week or two. After that I'm sure I'll end up going to town on it bumper to bumper as I always end up doing. Right now it is chipped and I had a magnaflow exhaust installed the day I bought it.

It sucks balls watching the numbers climb on the gas pump, but as soon as I get behind the wheel I forget about that. Especially going from my car which rides really low and has such stiff springs, to a full size pickup. Overall, I fuckin' love it though. It's a beast.

Never driven one myself, no. I have been a huge fan of toyota's trucks since my mom bought a 4Runner a while ago. Their quality is hard to beat, IMO. I've driven a few but not the Tundra. I think Toyota has pretty much taken over the quality truck game. I definitely would have gone with them but the ford dealership I went to gave me an amazing deal. (Because they knew if they didn't I was going to walk and buy a Dodge from the Chrysler dealership across the street I used to work for.)
