okay so a while ago i was deciding if i should get headphones or speakers for my next year in college. i have decided i am getting speakers, but now the real fun starts. do i get a good set of stero speakers at 500$ and a decent amp/reciver at 200$ or a 700$ish set of shitty surround sound speakers with a sub and amp built in? i went to a local hifi speaker place and listend to the 500$ a pair speakers and they were amazing, the demo cd of U2 sounded orgasmic and i dont even like u2. i could almost hear the pick flicking off the strings of the guitar. but with a shitty surround system i would lose that but gain bullets flying over my head during COD4. whats your call?
Just buy a 100$ pair a speakers with a subwoofer, and a $25 pair of headphones. It's not that difficult.

jesus christ do you have it in you to make any decision yourself?

don't overspend. it's fucking college. you'll wish you had the extra $300 when you run out of booze and weed money or get a drinking ticket.

get astro a40's and a mix amp. game over. best head set i have ever used and its cheaper than your speakers.

im ashamed to admit this but if im watching a dvd or somthing with them on and some surround sound part comes on and i forget im wearing them it scares the ever loving shit out of me thats how good they sound.

for best sound you need an optical out on either an xbox ps3 or your desktop or if you're getting a receiver that will work too.

general rule of thumb :::

spend the extra money on the reciever, f00ls!!! you can always pick up some more speakers, but if you've got a shit reciever the best speakers will stil sound shitty! put some extra money into the reciever and save yoruself some heartache
