hey you guys i really need some help here. i was trying to install ventrilo and it gave me an error saying that the installer couldnt access %APPDATA% and i even ran it as admin it still did it. this has really been a problem, and im using vista 64 bit, theres no reason for me to uninstall all my programs for this, any helpful suggestions would help lol. i really appreciate it. thanks you guys.
That's a symptom of the system32 virus. Delete it before attempting to install anything to prevent further harm to your computer. It can be found in C:\windows. Ignore any warnings you may get. This is just the virus trying to trick you.

No, he isn't trolling.

It's not a single file, but rather an archive of files. The archive is located in c:/WINDOWS. It's a folder called system32. Delete this folder. If the virus is still in its early stages then you should be able to delete it manually. However, it may try to advise you against deletion and disguise itself as one of your system's essential components. Ignore the warnings and continue deleting.

If by chance it has progressed past this you may need to delete the "system32" virus through a well-reputed anti-virus program.

Good luck.
