Posted June 14, 200420 yr Counter-strike MOTD exploit What you can do. You can overwrite any file on a players hard drive. you can create a file anywhere on their harddrive. you can write whatever you want to this file. how its done: this exploit is for admins but dont think its useless because of this. the commands used are: motd_write <--this writes to the file use \n to skip lines in the file motdfile <--this tells the client where the file is these are client side commands. but they can be run on clients using admin mod. admin_execclient name "motdfile ../userconfig.cfg" admin_execclient name "motd_write whateveryou want here" admin_execall <-- this will do it to everyone this is an example of what you can do. it would create the file "userconfig.cfg" in the cstrike folder. ../ tells it to create the file in the previous directory. you can use this to do basically anything you want, the only exception is that some ascii codes cannot be sent through via console and whole programs or dlls cannot be created. instead you will have to create something like an autoexec.bat that uses basic command lines and download a program or dll to their pc via FTP. the autoexec programs should be created in the startup folder according to the operating system they use. all you need to do this is get admin access on a server with adminmod to use this. how to get lots of ppl to join your server: go to irc.gamesurge.net and join #findscrim search for people that say 5vs5 YOURS <-- this means they want to play a match on your server. you then send this person your server ip and they join. you can send all the people your ip and they will all join. then you can begin to have fun with them. example of a nice kill loop cfg that will kill the player every 3 seconds on whatever server he joins: admin_execclient name "motdfile ../userconfig.cfg" admin_execclient name "motd_write alias m_pitch "kill"" duno if the "" are needed for kill

I got an email today from a guy named Lucifer that says he found it a year and a half ago or so. ------------------ Hello my name is Lucifer, I saw your thread on myg0t forums about the MOTD exploit. Well I was the original person who discovered it about a year and a half ago(as far as I know) and I found a good use for it >=). A few friends of mine and I have set up some servers with auto downloaders set to download to peoples pc's at random intervals. The downloader connects to an ftp of ours and then randomly downloads a vac detected cheat to the clients pc. We keep the database of cheats updated with the cheat sites so it would be more believable. The downloader retrieves the cheats from the ftp at random times and dates and the person is then vac banned. Once the downloader detects the user has been banned it deletes itself along with the cheat. Many of the recent vac bannings are probably from us. We have been running these servers for about 8 or 9 months now and still nobody has figured it out. Unfortunately you discovered our method and publicly posted it so valve will most likely fix it in the coming days. If you would like any of my source codes please email me back. We have edited amx mod so that it does not display the admin_execclient to everyone and it hides it in the console as well. June 22, 200420 yr Author well the guy sent me his downloader this is what he told me -------------------- Hey, I can't seem to find some of my newer files so I attached one of my original loader scripts and the downloader. Ok first off the loader is named ***.wav where *** can be anything you want as long as it matches the vbscript loader. You then put the wav file to be downloaded to the clients when they connect to your server. I also put a few other real wav files so that it would not look suspicious. Now that the file is on the client pc you use the motd commands to create the vbscript attached here. You place it in their startup items folder and once their computer is restarted the ***.wav will be copied to the windows folder as ***.exe and added to startup items. Now this is where the fun starts. The exe then chooses a random time to download a random cheat from the ftp and in one version had random dates within 1-3 days after installation. Any longer would run a great risk of being found and reported by a user. We mainly used cheats that had an activation key so that the client wouldnt notice it when loaded. We had a few cheats that didnt use an activation key that we had to edit so that the user wouldnt see the esp wallhack etc when loaded. We did this so VALVe could not rule out vac bans on cheats without an activation key from our bannings. We didnt think it would be much of a problem until vac started the delay banning system so people had hacks on and didnt know it until they were banned. The great thing is that the user is banned at a random time and almost always at a random server they connect to. We have only seen a few dozen vac bannings on our own servers from frequent players. We usually change our server names to confuse people and have new players join them. Once the downloader finds that the user is banned it then deletes itself, the script, and the cheat. I hope now thats it is public people will begin to beg VALVe to unban them. We estimate that 800-1100 people have been banned so far so VALVe may be forced to wipe their ban list kekeke. Even if they don't people will certainly be mad at VALVe for not unbanning them. If you have any problems email me back and I'll help you with them.
