Techno_Warrior']Make sure you uninstall the old display drivers before installing new ones.

i've never done that, maybe thats why my computer starts sucking more after every driver update...

i tryed them n now it runs even slower, i only have a radeon 7500 tho :/ time to put in my geforce4 from my other pc i think :fingersx:

i used to do that but then later found out theres no point to it, just a waste of time.

it's a leet driver, people on guru3d forums got like 10 fps boosts from it, and i take their word for it because i don't make benchmarks for the game. this is only beta, the word is the full 4.8 is going to be out in a day or 2 :fingersx:

I've both tried uninstalling before installing new ones and just installing over old ones and I don't really notice a difference. Is there really one?

There must be if they ask you to uninstall first. Could it just be precaution or something?

the reason you should uninstall old drivers first is to make sure that you dont end up with old files mixed with new files which can cause compatability issues and stability problems etc etc

it makes sense if you think about it

====

In your DOOM 3 directory, find "DoomConfig.cfg" (x:\Program Files\Doom 3\base). Open DoomConfig.cfg in Notepad.

Find the line:

seta image_cacheMegs "32"

change 32 to 96 (try others too mebbe but mine seemed best at 96)

bam, nice speed boost.

what kind of compy do you have

amd 2500+ @ 3200+ spec

512mb ddr

geforce4 ti4800

runs doom3 playable (40-55 fps avg) 800x600 medium detail

yeh with newer systems you should be pretty good for the most part as long as you run on med-low or med detail. I think there is a guide to tweaking it somewhere, but im too lazy to find the link :wow:
