First If you Have An ATI Card Download The DOOM Drivers. ATI DOOM3 Drivers (4.9 catalyst)

Secondly read this :

There is a boost, but don't expect miracles. With that said, give this a read:

As all of you who allready have this game recognized the game is very slow even on new Computers.

I found out the reason for this and the solution to fix this problem.

As you already know after installation the game consits only of the doom3.exe and some .PK4 files. Those PK4 files includes the entire game (sounds, videos, textures etc.) in high compressed form.

Normally those files were decompresse during the game.

But this exactly is the problem. Even new CPUs are not able to decompress those files while running the game with good peformance and therfore the game runs very **** also on new computers. I don't know if the develpers of ID-Soft was just too stupid to think about this or if they have an agreement with some hardware manufacturing firms.

How to get around this problem:

It is very simple. Go to your Doom 3 installation directoy and get inside the folder "Base". There are some .PK4 files you have to open each of them with WinRAR 3.3 and extract their entire contents to the Base dir in you Doom 3 installation folder (replace all files if they are any duplicates). Now you have to delete all .PK4 files in the Base folder to prevent the game to use those compressed files agian.

Now the game starts and runs mutch faster!!!

Have fun playing Doom 3!!!

It gives you a performance boost and improves some load times.

Next , Visit [H]ardOcp [H]ard|Ocp and read their guide and suggestions for settings Doom3 should be played at. They tested mutiple configurations and seem to be right on par with alot of their tips.

Then Lastly Us Being myg0t and all here are some single player Cheats for raging the computer

NOW GO TO HELL!!!!

rageing a computer? no such thing man.
But what about asking smarter child stupid questions on aim? shouldnt that suffice for some form of rage

^^^

i was thinking that when i wrote it lol

it was a joke you dumb shit. and tica, i appreciate your fps boostng guides for newer games. i'll post here if that brings me any fps, but i doubt that. i think it will only shorten your loading times.
if you want shorter loading times get more RAM. Most people have 512 and more these days so that amounts to loading times shorter than 30 seconds which is very bearable. If you have 256 RAM then play with low settings, it should eliminate long loads and stuttering.

some people are saying that if you edit the file:

C:\Program Files\Doom 3\base\doomconfig.cfg

and change:

seta image_cacheMegs "128"

seta image_useCache "1"

seta image_cacheMinK "20480"

you will get a smooter single player game with less choppiness when going into new areas, i cannot confirm this, but its wortha try

image_cachemesg "96" or whatever u want helps a LOT... by default mine was set to "20" wtf???

but when i turn use_cache "1" the shit crashes... go figure.

I notice no difference with seta image_usecache "1" or "0" so I left it on default "0" but the others do make entering a new area less " Hitchy " nice find :3some:

they use pk4 file format to cut game files down from 1gig plus to around 400 megs

keeps all the game files in one big file nice compressed file to save disk space
