Posted August 6, 200420 yr Although doom 3 is almost perfect in it's design. It is also very unique in many aspects. Taking totally new approaches to an almost exhausted and saturated genre. One of those approaches to uniqueness is a level of immersiveness similar to that old failure MMORPG called Majestic. Basically in you Doom 3 PDA you will find websites like www.martianbuddy.com which reveal secrets inside the game and give clues. This although highly innovative and unique, not to mention cool is also a severe flaw. Most of these sites expire in 2007, and although most of us might not be playing doom 3 by then it goes to show how irresponsible the gaming industry really is these days. What will likely happen is a lot of ppl who want to play doom 3 again or those who wanted to wait for it to get cheap and buy it in 2007 will find that all those sites listed in your doom 3 PDA are dead. A spam company will almost immediately buy out those domains once they expire and creaite websites with MASSSSSSS spam to rack in millions in cash afterwards. Or a few people might decide to create a virus or exploit to those websites. Even worse someone smart could exploit and DEFACE or create a redirect to these so called "clue" sites causing major chaos on the net. It would be cool if www.martianbuddy.com redirected to myg0t.com for example because you would have the largest influx of newbs in history. Or even better, don't stop there make a goatse popuhell site or that "defaced by myg0t' thing that pops up 10 seconds after going to the site and cannot be closed. You could even make a krystal.jpg style site. It would cause massive damage to thousands of computers. So you see ID software SEVERELY overestimates the security of their own servers and that of the internet. What may amplify your gaming experience may also ruin it completely or ruin your computer completely. What better way to rage than that? EDIT: One thing I wanted to add was that those pages could also get ****ed. Also if someone made it redirect to myg0t the forums would be spammed by hundreds of raged newbies and also confused newbies with questions like "what is the password".

August 6, 200420 yr Author Most games have a shelf life of about 2 or 3 years. Very rarely do they survive longer than that. The only reason half life survived so long was due to it's relatively low system requirements and high modability. 5 years later ppl play half life for the mods not the game itself. So unless doom 3 has a level editor or mod capability it will eventually become just another page in history. Look at EA, it has conveniently "forgotten" the existance of some of it's older classics like System Shock 1, Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, and a good portion of the wing commander games and any games that happened to have been released by origin. The same goes for Infrogrames which is now called Atari. They have conveniently "Forgotten" the existance of a lot of their older and better games. For example the X-Com series is totally discontinued. And the bastards cancelled the X-com Alliance and X-com freedom ridge projects. It would've been finished had they not bought out microprose those fuckers.
August 6, 200420 yr If you launch Doom3 and look at the bottom right of the main screen it says MOD. So you can bet there will be mods at some point.

August 6, 200420 yr Majestic was a great game to play I was like one of does poeple waitnig for that game to come out. To bad after sept 11 people lost intersated in it. oh well, still a great concept should be explored more.

August 6, 200420 yr This is greatly exaggerated. You went on one of those doomsayer rants where you pack peoples brains so full of information they forget how ridiculous what you're saying is. 1. Doom III has website addresses built in 2. You do not need these addresses to play the game (I'm assuming to acquire some kind of bonus, I've never played it) 3. Eventually the sites may go away (you said they will). 4. Eventually the sites may be defaced. 5. This will cause "mass chaos", because maybe 100 people who are still playing this game in 3 years, will still try to go to the website, and will have goatse in their face. 6. Apogee will do absolutely nothing to resolve this problem within a few days. 7. Mass chaos ensues. 8. Computers are destroyed in the process 9. Apogee is the worst company in the world for ruining the entire internet with this kind of chaos. 10. Somehow, through all this, "What may amplify your gaming experience may also ruin it completely or ruin your computer completely.". Apparently krystal.jpg poppers "ruin your computer completely".
August 6, 200420 yr doom3 is really lame imo. theres nothing innovative about it at all. the gameplay is lame and monotonous. the devs didnt even think about gameplay at all, just graphics. basically if there are like 10 monsters on the screen at once, your comp will be so overloaded it will explode, so you spend the entire game runniung from scene to scene killing 1 or 2 monsters at a time. granted, its semi scary (laff if u want) and the graphics are simply amazing, but the gameplay (or lack there of) makes doom3 just a stupid fps that will die. the mp sucks too, who wants to play 4 person mp? unless i see a DAMN good team fortress / cs type mod for this game, no way am i paying money for it.
August 6, 200420 yr The gameplay pwns unreal2/ut2003/ut2004, where you had a zillion different guns and opponents and it still had no fun factor at all.. Only 10 different monsters is a lame excuse to kill the game..
