I bought Doom III tonight and thought my specs could run Doom III on some fairly decent graphics with a smooth picture.

After scanning with the Doom III optimizing program, I kept the program running on Medium Graphics with a 800 x 600 screen and it is still choppy. All of the movies and dialogue are really slow and so is the game itself.

The specs are as follows:

Pentium 2.6 GHz

512MB Ram

Radeon 9700 Graphics Card

120 GB Hard Drive

I dont really see why this is not working as it should. I even tried on Low Quality settings with a 640 x 480 screen and it still runs like shit. All my programs are turned off and I have plenty of space to run this program. What should I do?

Your gonna get nuked in doom 3, if you have anything with "ATI" in it's name in your hardware list....................

it should work fine dude, a friend of mine has about the same specs.

same vid card, cpu and mem... and he plays med quality with 1024x768 with out lag. i think u should goto http://www.ati.com and get the latest drivers, if u already have them, something els is fuked up. but your hardware shud be fine.

yeh, ur hardware is good enough.. u just need to get newest drivers, and what's also important is to tweak the shit outta windows. if u totaly tweak it correctly u should get like twice as good results as u did b4

search google for a good tweaking guide (I aint got the time nor motivation to go and write a whole fucking guide lol)

Why you would spend the time tweaking Windows to play such an overrated game is beyond me.

err you are correct. I dont even got Doom III.. cuz it sux. anyway I just like to keep my comp running @ max speed with minimal cpu/ddr loss from stupid useless processes. It helps alot for playing UT2004 @ max everything :gaysex: .

anyway if any of u guys still play ut2004, click this link:

sweet ass UT2004 server

that's my favourite server :fingersx:

Pentium 2.6 GHz

512MB Ram

Radeon 9700 Graphics Card

120 GB Hard Drive

Wow. Before I went to Nvidia and got a 6800 Ultra, I had a 9600SE that I could run on high at 1280x1024 with no choppiness :D
