Valve anticipated that the game would be released nearly a year ago, and until this day the storeshelves are bare of any mass hysteria the game would cause. Enter Ari Kirkpatrick, the Valve whistleblower, who just less than 12 hours ago announced the cancellation of the most anticipated game in computer game history. He mentioned that Valve's uppercrust have known about the cencelation ever since the source code was leaked. Mounting suspicions eventually led to somebody alerting the public. Sad news to gamers, however there is a bright side to this, with the theft of the source code, modmakers could build their own game, thanks to a free, and extremly advanced gaming engine.

Valve probably wouldn't even be making HL2 if it wasn't for CS, and let's face it, people aren't waiting for HL2, they're waiting for CS2 (or Source or whatever they decide to call it).

So yes, we can just say it's CS.

August 20, 200420 yr I wouldn't say it's 50/50 at all. I'm certain CS could've been made on another Graphics Engine. I would say it's 90/10 really. It's CS, and CS alone that has kept Half-life (and Valve) in the spotlight the past years. Sure there are a lot of great mods out there, but the specialists came out, what... a year and half ago only? CS is the flagship mod of HL. And what do you think drove people to BUY half life in the first place? Sure as fuck wasn't Half-life Single player. It was pretty gay. Half life multiplayer was mediocre at best (except for TFC which rocks). I got half life when it first came out, and I remember there weren't that many servers for MP at all. Then when CS first came out, there were maybe like 200 servers, but now there are like 10's of thousands... The bottom line is that CS is what made Half life what it is, and it'll be CS that will make HL2. The other mods are just gravy.
