October 8, 200321 yr could have been, but I doubt it. Either way...what a bunch of non technical morons THINK regarding a hack, and what actually HAPPENED are two FAR different stories. Folks, half the sites posting these reports haven't a single true techie working for them who's interested enough in the case to tell them what the evidence (as uncovered so far) actually shows...most of them are getting their information via interviews with Valve spokespeople, or other sites, or people CLAIMING to know something. Valve has been open and honest about having recieved communications from SourceX and Hitman both, each of them blaming the other for distributing, and stating they THINK the other may have had something to do with the hack...suddenly other places report the allegations as FACT. The FACT is Valve has no fucking CLUE who did it, or the person responsible would be in custody already, and if Valve felt the evidence even vaguely supported either SourceX's or Hitman's allegations, they'd already be in lockdown, refused access to a touch tone phone by a federal judge who was convinced that with a gum wrapper, and access to a touch tone setup, this genius of the silicone monsters would be able to enslave the DoD's nuclear launching system (believe me, this is exactly what happened to Mitnick, and has happened to several others accused of hacking), or of using such access to somehow "hack" the prison's locking system, somehow freeing every prisoner there. LOL...you know, I LOVE non-techies...without ignorantly fearful idiots who MST use a computer, but are so afraid of them they can't learn anything about how they actually work, I'd be out of a job! October 9, 200321 yr SourceX if it wasn't you, someone using SourceX as an SN with an e-mail sourcing from NSA.gov was in a convo with a Valve employee, blaming Hitman quite openly, and posting his RL contact info. I believe that there's a link to this supposed conversation somewhere on these boards as a matter of fact. If it's a forgery, or a spoof, then I apologize for my gullibility in being duped, if it isn't, but wasn't you, just someone using the SN, etc., then I apologize for actually believing it was you. However, when I made that post, the information in it was from posted logs of conversations from sources that seemed reliable as far as actual content.

October 9, 200321 yr I nevber said he blamed hitman for stealing the source..I said DISTRIBUTING, mate, and looking back, you are correct, in one case, it's a log of Hitman quoting a letter he claims to have sent to Valve, which has portions matching quoted lines in Valve releases regarding information they are investigating...COULD be misinformation, but matching info leads to valid logical conclusions. The other case, as I said COULD be someone just using the SN SourceX with a spoofed nsa.gov email, with this SN giving RL contact info and stating baldly he doesn't think hitman stole the source code, but IS involved in distribution. If you read up a few posts, I flatly stated I do NOT think myg0t was involved in the theft as a group, and think there are few members who are capable of having pulled the hacks involved successfully. Yes, SourceX is one of the members I suspect would be able to...but I also don't think he's dumb enough to do it in such a way to get busted for it if he DID do it (Yes, SourceX, that IS a compliment). As far as "spreading disinformation about myg0t", I haven't been spreading disinformation about the group, though I HAVE stated opinions that the myg0t clan, as a group, cannot be responsible for the stolen code, even if certain individuals are capable of having pulled it off...I have further stated I don't believe those individuals capable of pulling it off are dumb enough to pull off a relatively spectacular hack and not cover tracks well, IF they did it. Any "disinformation" I may have spread came from information that appears reliable regarding communications between SoureX and Valve and claims of Hitman contacting Valve which, when coupled with Valve releases, seem supported, though I freely admit that the posts and releases the info is taken from could be faked in many ways, and regarded two individuals apparantly playing the blame game, not myg0t. Once again, SourceX, if that was NOT the real you in the conversation log supposedly released by Valve, I apologize for being taken in by it, though whoever DID pose as you knows you well enough to have pulled quite a few tricks to support the idea it's genuine, and if the release itself is bogus, well, what can I say? In that release, "you" never claimed Hitman was a suspect for stealing the code, though "you" believed he was involved in distribution. Tone, SN, wording, backtrace, ID, and "email sourced from nsa.gov" listed in the release simply makes it very easy to believe the release was legit straight through, and it is clear that the purpose of the contact reported was for this individual using the SN "SourceX", whoever it really was, to state that neither you (the real you) nor myg0t, were involved in the hack, "for the record", and to state that allegations possibly made by Hitman were the result of anger over being kicked for other distribution offences...which supports the idea that the post regarding Hitman's claims of contacting Valve himself is legit, as are his claims themselves, all the more.

October 10, 200321 yr Actually, Golom, about 80% of that "essay" was posted for SourceX to read, posted publicly out of respect...when it's pointed out I stated something as fact that wasn't, or made statements that might mislead folks regarding another person's reputation, I don't keep the apology or clarification private like a pussy. Adiction...that's always a possibility, but what I've seen of senior g0ts suggests they'd rather sit mum than contact someone and make false statements to "throw them off the trail", and as I said before, on first reading, I took the release completely at face value.
