Posted August 22, 200420 yr I've been doing alot of recording with SONAR 3 and wanted to do beable to do more than 15 MIDI tracks at once along with various audio intruments (Guitars) without getting any dropouts. So I checked around and found these Tweaking tips to be useful for better performance. There's alot of good links on that thread. BTW...if you are into SoftSynths, check out Spectrasonics Atmosphere, Trilogy, Stylus , Symphony of Voices etc. That shit kicks ass. http://www.cakewalk.com/forum/tm.asp?m=128516 1. August 22, 200420 yr hmm yea you'd actually experience a 0.1% increase in speed if you have less than 256 megs o' RAM. If you're doing sound editing then you're better off with at least a gig of ram and multiple partitioned hard drive. Those tweaks are just a waste of time.

If you're doing sound editing then you're better off with at least a gig of ram and multiple partitioned hard drive. Those tweaks are just a waste of time. I have 1.7 gig cpu and 1.5 gigs of RAM. I was running two synths from MHC Voxynth and SpaceSynth. Both of these together ran my CPU up over 70% and sometimes it crashed Sonar. Well..I did some of those tweaks and then ran both synths again and it brought down the CPU usage from 70% to 45%-50%.....that's still shit performance. I can use Atmosphere on 15 tracks and it only takes up 60% CPU and never drops out or crashes. MHC is just a CPU hog from Hell...Though the sounds were great I uninstalled it.
