Posted October 8, 200321 yr i've downloaded about 501megs of the half.life.2.beta-anon only hl2 100%.rar file so far, but has anyone who has this file played hl2 yet? Once I get the file i'm going to put it on my sisters pc and run it just so i don't get haxed :o who knows they probly have there own email virus in there that haxed valve and now there spreding it to the world!!! :biggrin2:
October 8, 200321 yr uhhh...moron...read around...every report out there is telling you the code is ONLY code, not any graphics or artwork, AND is missing two msdev libraries... on top of that, how are you going to put code on your sister's machine and play it, so you avoid the possibility of getting hacked, eh? I take it your sister is a computer engineer or software designer, and just happens to have a software development kit residing on her machine that's goiing to auto-compile this code, create and deposit the resulting files in proper directories, and develop and associate the proper graphical objects for you, without you having enough savvy regarding programming to recognize viral code yourself BEFORE it compiles? Kiddo, you quite clearly know SHIT about programming/coding/software development, how it works, or the basics of what "stolen code" actually means...come back and tell us all about your raging HL2 play after you can define "GNU library"...or at least know what namespace.std is, and when and why you'd use it

October 8, 200321 yr yes, HL2 Alpha I think it is... IT IS REAL I have tried it, most textures work but not all. you can play Singleplayer maps and multiplayer too...
October 8, 200321 yr ahh, well then, someone made their own artwork and named it appropriately for the code to manipulate it, since Valve reports "only code, not artwork was stolen" The msdev libraries were available freely to anyone on the .NET framework anyhow Other possibility is that this is an official "closed beta" that was leaked, of course.... but either way...what was stolen from Valve was uncomplete code...missing libraries and artwork...so anything based on that is NOT going to be functional HL2 game :) P.S. part of my "rage" at the "I'm gonna play it" statements comes from difficulties I've been having with a particularly stubborn bit of compiling myself, so do pardon the occasional fit I throw...lol
October 8, 200321 yr The 1.4gig download is all too real. Its not exactly playable in that you can play the story line of the game. You can only load the maps and wander around on them and kill crap. You cannot play the actual story line. Of course this is what I was told. :P

October 8, 200321 yr ok let's clear something up >> Yes, there is a beta leaked: - About 1/3 of the source is leaked - There are 9 levels (not scripted, some textures missing and lot's of bugs) leaked (all E3 levels) There are no DX9 options, no script sequences, alot of textures are missing... you are just walking in a level shooting some aliens... That's all. Thx to the hackers we all have to wait till april 2004 cause they can't wait 2 months for the holydays... gj!

October 8, 200321 yr I have gotten the Source Code, i have compiled it, i have played. Nothing special. Its just the fact that you have something that wasnt supposed to get out :) Im using Torrent to get HL2 beta leak, when i checked it this morning it was 1.2gigs done, i should be playing it tonite :), its just something to do, just like Doom 3 leaked out, it occupied me for hours, to burn 10 cds and hide them all over t3h place :D i guess this will keep me busy for then next 2 days!
