So... correct me if I'm wrong.. but to install hl2 all you need is a hl2 cd key right?

Here's the thing. I stole some niggers steam account, downloaded all the new hl2/source/whatever content to my harddrive, only to have him type in his cd key and steal it back. (yeah, i changed his e-mail address, password and secret question, so thats the only way he could have gotten it back).

Okay. The content is on my harddrive... so all i need is a cd key?

What if I walk into walmart, buy the game, go out to my car, open the BOX (i stress the word BOX), jot down the cd key that's on the back of the CD CASE (i think, right?). Return the game right then saying something like "this game is for the pc.. i have a mac.. i didnt realize it" or "my computer doesnt meet the specifications". My theory is that they will take it back because the cd case is not opened and the date and time is on the receipt, so there is no way I could have done anything with the software in under 5 minutes after purchasing. How many of you have tried this?

yeah that will work, just rename the folder that has the old users name (nigger-something), to the name you choose when entering ur new stolen CD key to keep the settings u had when playing on the nig account.
Just do it. But make sure you do it in some stupid toy shop where the personal doesn't know a shit about anything related to PC.
Most stores have a policy that states you can only return a game if you bring it back unopened.
Just to ruin your theory: Valve ship out their boxes ready sealed with a cd key inside the case, stuck to the upper right of where the cd is.

Thanks losers. My plan worked. I returned the box "unopened". The key was on the first cd case. Why didnt I do it in the store? Because you suck, & walmart security is rediculous.

some guy did it to best buy, they were re-selling hl2 *OPENED ITEM* sticker on the box. try it at best buy, they should take it back. just dont open the cd's like you said

i know a friend who got banned by VAC so he just took it back to the store and said the game didn't work and got a new one. :naughtyd:
