Want Firefox to run 2/3 times faster? Course you do. Read on... Quote: Here's something for broadband (will have the opposite effect for 56kers) people that will really speed Firefox up: 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them) Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages 2-3 times faster now. I swear it works, pages are loaded in a split second for me now. Very Happy :rockon:

Hahah, you're the only person on this board so far who atleast knows SOMETHING about Arab culture. :P Anyway, I do know about Wintendo, and I have tried Firefox before it even SUPPORTED the OS. (Phoenix..) It consumes too much RAM in my opinion and Opera is faster. It isn't that fast. You want a fast browser? Try links, or dillo. The only problem with them is that they probably don't look too good to most people, or they don't support flash.

January 28, 200520 yr Not really. I reformatted my PC last Sunday, and now whenever I start up IE, some virii and trojans spawn... Did I install any adbars? Nope. What did I download? Steam, MSN Messenger 6, AVG, GIMP, AOL Instant Messenger Now AIM crashes because of IE... I'm forced to use Opera, and honestly, I'm happier with it.. I'm just going to totally remove IE from this PC.. then life will surely rock. :D

January 28, 200520 yr word of advice, DONT REMOVE IE. I tried it once and fucked up my windows, had to reformat. I dont use ie myself, but it owns the scene, because its used more than anything else. I find opera and firefox as good as each other, they both use tab browsing and not easily spyware infected, thats the only advantage. Oh yea and they're not ms.
January 28, 200520 yr yea you can't remove ie, just go to options and set activex to high and set coookies to block all, fuck ie another microshit software.
January 28, 200520 yr Start>Control Pannel>Add Or Remove Programs (assuming you're in classic mode)>Add/Remove Windows Component Uncheck Internet Explorer and then hit next. That's the correct way to uninstall it, I did it and it works fine. By the way, I did all the steps that this topic suggested with firefox and I do see a slight difference in webpage load times. And no, my computer hasn't fallen on its side and burst into flames yet....

The only reason I'm using Wintendo is because of HL2.. and that I'm going to ditch this laptop soon to get one that's graphically strong.. Then I can run NetBSD with Linux emulation for the ATI binary drivers and laugh at Wintendo. :D
