I was browsing the forums and found that they have a problem with a hack that allows people to join passworded servers. This leads me to believe one of two things - either

 

1, server authentication is done clientside

 

or

 

2, passwords for all the servers are retrieved and cached clientside during server list

 

can anybody confirm/deny this?

on another note, assuming so many game factors (ammo count, etc) are being calculated clientside, is it safe to assume that weapon ballistics (speed, power) can be altered as well? Perhaps collision detection, too :wow:

Damn near EVERYTHING is client side, so it wouldn't be far from the imagination to see a "tree-hack" or "no-clipping mode".

 

 

An Aimbot would be possible too, as there is a hitbox for one hit heart kills.

I know one way we could rage, if this is possible. Could we make it so a deer, a big one, followed you around and literally was in/on you so when someone shot the deer they would be kicked. Would only work with no clipping, unless you could somehow trade the horse graphic for a large deer, and ride it. :gaysex:

Would that be possible? To make it so the graphic was a buck with huge horns? Would still be funny to see a jackrabbit with a shotgun like butt_plug said. Anyway it was just a suggestion.

When I download the nocd patch that was linked to in this thread, the archive only contains an .nfo file. Can someone help me out and tell me what I should do with this or what program I should use? Thanks.

 

 

You need to use something like Ahead Nero to burn an NFO file.

 

I used SpeedyCD to burn my ISO to disc. Works great.
