How do I locate my CD-key?

Note to Mods: I'm not asking FOR a cd-key, just where to find mine.

Anyway, I bought Half Life a long while ago, installed it, but never got around to playing it. So I felt like giving this game a try one day, and it asks for my Cd-key. I have no idea what I did with the part of my game that had the CD-key printed on it, so am I boned, or is there a way to find it?

if it's not installed on the comp the only is to find the cd case

i'm afraid you might have to shell out the 5-10 dollars to buy a new copy of the original HL

where in the registry is it? ive looked lots of times to no avail

its in SteamAppData.vdf or ClientRegistry.blob (deleting theyse two files will cause you to have to log in again). If anyone finds a way to decrypt theyse, tell meh.
