I have to use nvidia cause ati got shitty drivers on linux, geforce3 beats radeon9800 at glxgears :/
Freddie_Mercury']my x800 has VGA and DVI. the x850 are DVI only. lewl. and it's not as if you can't get VGA => DVI adapters for like 20 cents.

wtf my x800 has 2xDVI and one adaptor was in the package, so w00t. damn nobletype wont take an advice. ati > nvidia period. end of discussion.

it depends on the manufacturer

k, now the question is, is the x850 PE 75 dollars better and worth more than the regular x850? There's barely 5 fps difference.

keep in mind that PE = the best quality chips that are produced so it will overclock better.

It doesn't even matter really. If you want a card that is the ABSOLUTE fastest card you can get, then get the X850. But, realize that you will only be ahead of the nVidia by a few fps and you will have spent more money. Is it really worth the price difference to be 10-15% better? I doubt it.

I say nVidia, plus I could just fit it into my water cooling system.C and make it just as fast as the Radeon.

Ati > Nvidia blow dryer cards

avyone ever notice how the most powerful nvidia cards always have some giant flaw, like the fx5800, a giant, loud ass hair dryer for a cooler? Ati Radeon x850XT PE > my own grandmother and balls

talking expensive graphics cards, i wish i could afford for it, but money doesn't matter knowledge is the key without it you'd be some rich dumbass.

I've always held a prefrence to the nVidia cards for the awesome Linux/FreeBSD support alone. Look how long it took ATi to make an AMD64 driver :O_o: . My 6800GT serves me very well. Can we really see a difference between 110fps on a 6 series and 120 on a X series in HL2/whatever? :drama:

Yeah its an old thread but whatever.

nobletype']Yeah' date=' but I doubt that's worth 75 dollars more.[/quote']

that's not a huge difference for what you're getting out of it.

It is unfair to compare the nVidia 6 series to the ATI x800 series, for both cards do well at what they are catered to do.

The only senario in which ATI performs better then its compaditor on all levels is the nVidia FX series versus the ATI 9000-9800 series. The FX series is very slow, and contains highly obsolete technology that simply fails at newer games.

Personally, I have a GeForce 6800 GT 256 MB from BFG, and I am satisfied with almost everything. With an AMD64 3400+ and a GB of PC2700 memory, I managed about 5,000 on 3DMark05.

Man you need an upgrade to PC-3200 RAM. Right now I have a 4 pipe 9600XT, but once I get a 16 pipe BFG 6800 Ultra OC my 3Dmark05 score and overall performance will boost drastically. This will be my first foiree into nVidia cards.
You know why? Cuz most people here dont have any fucking money so they buy cheap shit and talk it up with their techno talk shit

PC2700 RAM is very similar to PC3200. The speed boost would be very minor if I went to PC3200 RAM, so I do not bother.

x850 > everything else

the 6800 needs 2 molex connectors and the coolers are fucking loud and huge, and it still doesnt perform as good

Really, which 6800 you have because I know that mine is damn quiet and, OH NOES it needs 2 molex connectors, why is this a big deal?
