On a lighter note, we had a guy mauled earlier this fall during freshwater salmon season...he apparantly tried to argue with a bear that decided that the salmon in his catch-cooler were a decent and easy to prepare snack, and the moron tried to protect his catch by hitting the 1200 pound bruin with his fishing pole (this gets worse)...the bear beat the shit out of the guy, who lived through the mauling, but apparantly had his arm ripped off in the process (at least they didn't find it later)...but passed out from bloodloss while trying to drive himself to help (he was in Glacier Nat'l Forrest, and you do NOT get cell reception back in the river vallies there), and crashed into a tree along the access road...which killed him "instantly"

WOW dude....no shit. If I was mauled and my arm was torn off I would just say fuckit and blow my head off if a gun was handy. Why go through surgery and look like a freak and shit and end up on the Oprah Winfrey show to show the world what a dumbfuck you are? ....

nice to see you again psychobud

where you been hidin? other than camping with bears.

As for the bear still being alive after he emptied the 7mm into it...not suprising...fish and wildlife employee...meas a legal magazine...capacity 5rds+ one in chamber...hunting deer means he has to have a block in the mag, so it will fit no more than 3 rounds in it. 7mm is a DEER round, designed to travel fast and flat...it's weaker than an AK round (weaker than a .357 in penetration power, to be truthful)...normal sized bears have been known to shrug off .30-06 rounds to the skull...a 7mm isn't ANYTHING in comparison...the fucker's lucky he managed to stop it long enough to reload so he could kill it.

Sorry to have geeked out...I do alot of camping, fishing, and hiking out here in the Cascades, and there are enough bears about to be worth worrying about them enough to read up on how to deal with them "just in case".

And yes, bears DO climb trees...if the tree is thick enough for the bear to climb, then climbing it will do you no good, and if it isn't thick enough to support the bear, the local fish and wildlife warnings say that they can break it down...they still advise climbing, if possible, though, since the most common cause of bear attacks is the human getting between the bear and something it is instinctually protective of (a carcass it hadn't finished, or a cub, or its main "nest"), and climbing the tree will likely cause it to disregard you as a threat to whatever it was protecting.

PYSCHO BUD MOST LEET PERSEON ON FORUMS......EVAR!!!.......

you don't know teh psychobud at all do you?

he is w0rthy.....

....i know he is...n im pretty sure he holds a gun too...but wat about close combat incase?

Wait, why did the mauled guy not have any clothes on. Maybe he was :jerkit2: when the bear came up?

you mean what do I carry normally, or when out in the woods?

When camping, I always bring two rifles and a pistol (usually my thompson center arms contender with the .45 ACP camp rifle kit setup, my remmington 770 bolt action, and a Taurus model 69 [old taurus] 6" .357 revolver loaded with +P+ federal hydra shoks...the pistol stays on my hip, the camp rifle is usually what gets hauled around with me, as the 770 is a hunting rifle, and basically is left in the campsite "just in case" a bear or cougar gets a bit curious at night...not that I expect any of those to do any good against a bear in the dark...I also bring my dog (and HOPE that if a critter who isn't afraid of people shows that the dog suvives the fight long enough for me and the family to get into the truck)...but that's when I take the whole family up with me...and my wife is usually packing her .40 S&W's in those situations.

If I'm up hunting, it's the 770, or my M1, or my Springfield Match Grade as the rifle, and the Taurus as a sidearm, and if it's a pure fishing trip, I just bring the wife's Detonics .45 with me.

If it's a solo hike, I generally have nothing but a folding hatchet, and a good knife, weapons wise.

Around the street, I don't pack anymore, as local cops ALWAYS run your record if they catch you packing, even if everything else you're doing is perfectly legal. Fish and Game doesn't really seem to care if you've technically breaking the law by packing, as long as you're not acting like a dick, and you can always claim that your wallet's at the campsite, and give the name and address of a friend with no record as your own, if they press the issue.

lol u bring ur family with u on a dangerous mission?...wouldnt ur dog keep barking at those critters provoking them to fight or something?...o yea nd are automatic rifles (m4a1) allowed for hunting?

LOL...camping isn't a dangerous mission, meng...get real.

As for the dog...statistically, yes, bringing him with increases the chance of a large predator coming into the camp, but, well, honestly, I'm not too worried about that...aside from cougars and bears, not much up in this part of the woods that will do alot of damage to a 75 pound half-pit-bull/half-husky...and most the wild critters won't attack anything they don't figure on eating, in an area regularly used for camping (I don't take my family out in the areas where there are no established campsites, I go solo for those trips, since it often requires going without a fire, and figuring out how to pitch camp in areas unsuited for even a small tent)

Automatic rifles aren't legal for hunting ANYWHERE, and usually aren't even legal for carry except between storage, home, and range, even if you have the class 3 permit it takes to own one legally.

Besides...why would you hunt with an auto, even set to semi? One shot clean kills are the idea of hunting. Personally, I favor ridgeline hunting, which requires one GOOD shot at relatively long ranges, since you're shooting across a draw at your target...you don't get a CHANCE for a second shot, and spraying wouldn't help you any...you either tag it hard enough to drop it, in the first shot, or you spend at least the rest of the day trying to find it, and finish the job. (Worst case I've had was shoulder-shooting a deer, and spending the rest of that day, and most of the next, first working my way to where it had been when I shot at it, then trying to track it...fucker'd finally died of its wounds, but something got to it before I did...probably coyotes or similar)

lol wouldn't going solo be very dangerous? i mean u could get like 4 friends with u with different types of weapons...u could work together like a SWAT team...and best of all...u can kill wat u see without writing a report on why u killed/shot it XD

Why did your parents have to let you live? :poke:

to piss you off

Making someone laugh at your blatent stupidity doesn't count as pissing them off.

You were homeschooled I take it. :O_o:

Uhh...writing reports? Only time you gotta write up a wildlife shooting is if you want to LEGALLY claim the kill when you killed out of season. Since I don't trophy hunt, this isn't an issue.

I go off on one of my hikes, I don't carry much at all...not even a rucksack...if it doesn't fit on my H-gear, web belt, or in cargo pockets, it doesn't go with on hikes. On hunts...well, you only shoot what you can SEE, and for good reason.

dark urza is a lot like me.....

lol how much animals have u killed n not claimed b4?

Fucked if I know...used to be that if I saw a turkey during deer season (when I lived in the midwest) I shot it, even though it was out of season...never claimed ANYTHING shot out of season, never reported anything shot out of season...only times I ended up doing reports was the two times I was involved in a vehicle-animal accident, and the time I got shot in the back/side by an idiot who was out pheasant hunting with a 12 gauge and managed to wing me and kill my partner's dog (I was doing the flushing at the time) because he shot WAY too low at a bird I'd flushed.

I mean, it's not like I'm some big-time poacher, or anything...I'll shoot a turkey, grouse, or pheasant out of season when the chance comes up...but I've usually eaten it by bedtime that night, so, technically speaking, it's legal in most states, and not required on your tag.

looks like that dead guy was takin a shit when he got mauled. only reason i can think of as to why his pants would be down like that
