March 9, 200520 yr very, i was able to last until a few weeks until i was scheduled to have them removed, then i coudlnt take it and pulled a few of them out myself. the ones that were itching me the most.
March 9, 200520 yr I guess something similar happened to one of my friends. He was on some bleachers and he jumped over (for no apparent reason) but ended up falling on top of one of those poles that were sticking out. When he got up his leg just felt bruised but people started pointing out asying "Omg LOOK AT YOUR LEG". So he looks down and theres a big open lash across his leg and he starts screaming as if was going to die. It was nasty cause you could see the muscles and shit. Hope nothing like that ever happens to me :X
March 9, 200520 yr Heh this reminds me of somethin I saw on t.v. This women was walking down the street and this guy put 6 inch knife in her back and she kept on walking. She even went shopping and didn't notice the knife till she tried to take a shower then called 911.
March 9, 200520 yr You were studying medical fields, SX, even if it was radiology... Shock-trauma, man. Massive traumatic injuries (or deep penetrating ones) shock the serves, if the injury itself doesn't sever the ganglions to the surface nerves that are the ones so sensitive to pain stimulation...you don't feel the pain until either the shock wears off, or until the body "re-routes" to the surface nerves...I can't count the number of times I've done something stupid, and not felt the "right amount of pain", but I CAN tell you that once you HAVE recognized that this happens (it takes a few times of noticing that it didn't hurt so bad for such a major injury), you stop having ANY fear of "pain" as such...it's that lack of fear that lead directly to my busts...if I hadn't known that any injury I'd have recieved as a result of my actions would have been too major to hurt much, I probably would have backed off instead of jumping in faster and harder in the hopes of minimizing healing time...lol On the otherhand...had the other fucker had the same experiences I'd had, or similar, neither of them would have hesitated long enough to let me do the amount of damage that got me arrested, either...

March 9, 200520 yr yeah, but scars are no big...as long as you don't permenantly lose feeling or range of motion, the only problem is healing time...but sometimes physical therapy hurts like a sonofabitch When I fucked up my hand, the therapy ALWAYS hurt more than the actual injury had, which I thought was REALLY fucked up. Somehow, straining tendons always manages to hurt worse than anything else, for me (I'll take a broken bone over a bad sprain, any fucking day...at least they give you decent dope, and put the fucker in a padded cast when you bust a bone)

March 9, 200520 yr depends on how bad a break you're talking on how much pain's involved, man...a greenstick fracture hurts like a bitch...burns, almost. A serious break, where it's snapped through, but not disconnected doesn't feel much worse, until you try to move it, and the ends grate together, and then it combines a BAD burning/cold sensation with the feeling you get when someone scratches something metal across a chalk board (or when you bite aluminum foil if you've got fillings). A coupound fracture, where it snapped through, and the ends seperated, you don't really feel...but you IMAGINE a shitload of pain when you see it (those breaks where your arm suddenly has an estra elbow), and a compound complex doesn't hurt a bit, just feels numb and cold (where the bone pokes through the skin). At least that's been my experience so far, with 15 different incidents with broken bones involved... And a piece of side advice, learned the hard way from the worst incident...a half-pipe skateboard ramp is NOT a suitable place for riding a motorcycle...when the bike falls over on you, it makes things MUCH worse than they already were.
March 10, 200520 yr SourceX']i had something similar to this happen to me and makes it sort of easier to understand how you wouldn't know. when i was in 9th grade i was down in mississippi at my cousins ranch off-roading on 4-wheelers, right before we went in for the night i did one last jump off this dirt mound he had in the side yard, which was close to some trees, but had enough distance between them and where you would land to stop in time. well, don't know why or how but, the last time i landed it knocked the break fluid box loose which was sitting on top of the handle bars. so when i landed and tried to break nothing happened, i tried to skid the atv sideways but its not as easy as it looks on tv, so i tried the emergency foot break but by the time i did that while being panicked my front right tire hit one of the trees turning the handlebars parallel to my body and throwing my body forward into them at about 40mph which was how fast i was going when i landed from the jump. not realizing that i had been impaled from my abdomen up into my stomach, and having a concussion from the whiplash throwing my helmet off my head and my head slamming into the tree, i just thought i had broke some of my ribs, i only felt a ache in my stomach and abdomen. so, knowing i probably fucked my ribs up and my head/neck hurt like hell i pushed myself up off the atv, looked over at my cousin who was staring at me and not saying anything, i walked back to the house, went in and told his mom who was an ER nurse i need to get to the hospital. s soon as i walked in the door and said that her and my mom who ahd been in the kitchen talking at the time looked at me and screamed, i looked down and realized all the blood gushing out of a hole covered in mangled skin, muscle, and nerves. lol. i sat down on the couch and pulled up my shirt to see the hole and surprisingly it still was no more than an ache you get from cracked ribs, which might seem like a lot, but considering what actually did happen it should have been 1000x worse. they pulled me up off the couch and put me in her suv and drove me to the er, a couple surgeries later, getting addicted to demerol for a week, i was out of the hospital with my stomach and abdomen stapled up and 3 broken ribs. i was in bed for about a month and the first time i took a shit on the toilet was the worst pain i've ever felt in my life to this day. this was because the week i was in the hospital my bowels were shut down from trauma, and of course, because they got impaled, rofl. 26 staples in my stomach and 16 in my crotch. supposedly, according to some doctor on an oprah episode, and from my anatomy books from med school, your brian wont cause you to feel pain from wounds so massive there would be no way you would not realize what happened and not know to seek help, this is true whether you see what happens to you or whether it was an accident and you don't see the wound. i hardly even remember pulling the handlebar out of me, my mind was focused on getting to the hospital even though i didn't know what was wrong, i knew i needed to get there, and just pulled myself off the atv. anyways, ya, cool story and cool scars, i didn't give a lot of details or tell that very well but, after telling the story to about 500 people since it happened it gets really old.rifk sx. http://www.imagevenue.com/loc204/499_boohoo.jpg

March 10, 200520 yr lol and psychobud, im only in my 2nd quarter of med school atm, and wont be continuing it, we wouldnt of started studying the nerves and such (in-depth) for at least another quarter. most of the first 2 quarters is learning ALL the terminlology, AND how to spell it rofl. believe me, all that packed into 2 semesters, i would had gladly taken a year to do it, over 2,000 words that are for the most part latin. flashcards worked surprisingly well.
March 10, 200520 yr meh...no med school at all, on my part...just ask the right questions when a doc's patchin me up...and my mom was an RN, spent most of her carreer working trauma ward and emergency room...you learn some stuff just by being around it, you know? Plus I got an endless supply of stories about dumbasses who ended up in ER or trauma ward when mom was working.
