Hell, I’m kinda jealous myself. Ok, I just found the answer to our question to our problem. I was doing a few quick searches on some key words and came across some very, very interesting sh*t. Go to google and type in Roy Cales, Athalas’s fathers name. I read over forty of them and here, in my opinion, is the breakdown of what happened: Athalas’s father (Roy Cales) was appointed as the first CIO (Chief Information Officer) of Florida.back in 1999, despite the fact that he was charged with grand theft and embezzlement in 1985 (Cales embezzled $1,800 from a lumber store he worked at in Leesburg. He admitted guilt, repaid the money, and the charges were dropped.). He was in charge of a $600-million dollar budget and thousand of employees. He then resigned due to fraud charges the state brought against him. He was accused of falsifying a letter to get a Tallahassee bank to lend him $35,000 in 1996 for a tech consulting company he had. The case came to an end when the judge threw out the key evidence on a technicality. (Judge wouldn’t let a copy of the forged letter to the bank to be used – and the bank couldn’t find the original – have to love our justice system!) Later many of the contracts that Roy Cales had issued were canceled by the state. The state found that tens, if not HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of dollars of contracts that Roy Cales made with private companies were never allowed to be bid on. Roy Cales just issued them. Nice. I can already here some people saying “But Athalus’s father was not found guilty on some of the charges… yadda yadda yadda”. Sure, and O.J. didn’t do it. And we all should trust Michael Jackson with baby sitting our kids. Use some common sence. I think that I have found enough info to come to a conclusion to our question.
