March 20, 200520 yr As I don't know what your price range is for your video card other than "cheap." The best way for you to go would probably be with a turtlebeach sound card. They're better than the bloated peice of shit sound cards that creative makes. The best ever creative sound card was the Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold. l337 Soundcards.
March 20, 200520 yr Stoned Gorilla']i always wear headphones, and these are probably better than the headset's speakers (unless those aol hillbillys need to have surround sound so they can hear the voices as if they actually had friends in reallife) but i guess i should get a new soundcard :( which brings us to a new subject! :wow: what's a cheap and okay soundcard that doesn't suck more than my soundblaster live (be more specific than 'everything!' plz) Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS - $91
March 20, 200520 yr Personally, I would go with a USB mic for flexibility (Say you get a new computer that won't take your sound card with the RCA ports) but in terms of sound quality it can go either way. As vodka said, look for good sound filters, and on top of that, the materials of the connectors. (One reason monster cables pwn so much is because the conenctors are made of 24k gold.) And for some recommended brands/models: Sennheiser PC155 (USB/2x3.5mm): http://www.sennheisercommunications.com/pr-pc155.html Creative HS-300 (2x3.5mm): http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=437&subcategory=442&product=4939&nav=2 Plantronics DSP 400 (USB): http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat640035/cat640035/prod440042 -Hope it helps EDIT: I second what BUTT_PLUG said about your sig vinnie http://img131.exs.cx/img131/8006/post211064723071hj.gif
March 20, 200520 yr I've got alot of .gifs on my hard drive. By the way StonedGorilla, what are your system specs?
March 20, 200520 yr Get a USB if your sound card is going down in quality. Some USB mics have built in sound cards. I've heard good things about the Logitech Precision http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=103,ConTENTID=9523
March 20, 200520 yr Author I've got alot of .gifs on my hard drive. By the way StonedGorilla, what are your system specs? soundcard: soundblaster live! processor: 1.6 ghz amd (equiv to 2.0 ghz intel) ram: 512 mb ddr videocard (probably doesn't matter but oh well): radeon x800 pro and again, with the headsets, lol, i just want to put a microphone on my monitor, i don't need another headset.
March 21, 200520 yr Yeah, you'd improve alot sound wise from a new sound card. Yes, the soundblaster live! is not a great sound card. I must say that I back USB microphones rather than RCA microphones, not only is there less of a hassle (if you have a USB port in the front of your computer), but you can also change settings really easy if the microphone came with some software. Edit Headsets are a waste of money. You get shit quality when you could use your 5.1 surround sound.
March 21, 200520 yr get a camcorder mic. there about a $100 http://store.yahoo.com/1888camcorder/ecmms907.html#

Anywayz with only a 30 dollar budget, your choices are pretty much limited to just your run of the mill mics so I would recommend going with a USB one. As far as souncards go, get a blaster live 24-bit. Just go with the one that's cheapest cause it has 7.1 speaker support and the 24 bit advanced hd chip, which is all you need. Although the more expensive one DOES have RCA support if you want that. I guess if you have an expensive sound system, you might want that. If you ever need new headphones, let me know, I know all the top of the line models.
March 21, 200520 yr Headsets are a waste of money. You get shit quality when you could use your 5.1 surround sound. Why would you use a headset in a setting where you need surround sound? Playing OMFGCS? Headsets are so you don't get jewed by echo, nothing else really.
March 23, 200520 yr Author NWA']Why would you use a headset in a setting where you need surround sound? Playing OMFGCS? Headsets are so you don't get jewed by echo, nothing else really. more like, you're jewing other people with echo; when you're talking on teamspeak or ventrilo keke.
March 23, 200520 yr Author has there been many different builds of the soundblaster live! ? as i do have a soundblaster live! , i'm not sure if it has 24 bit as the ones on the site,. i've had this soundcard for a really long time, so i don't know if i have a 24 bit build or an older shitty type. how could i figure this out?
March 23, 200520 yr Yes there have been several versions of the SB live. The newest one is the onee that uses the 24-bit chip, the advanced HD one.
