I'm planning to get a new microphone since all my microphones seem to be shitting out, either that, or it's the soundboard. I tried out 3 microphones (2 seperate ones, one headset) and they seem to all have the same type of fuzziness when I record (with cool edit). The sound quality of my records have been getting progressively worse. I'm thinking it's the soundboard since all the microphones sound the same, and they used to sound good.

Instead of buying a new soundboard, i thought it would be alot cheaper just to get a USB microphone. (specifically http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=103,CONTENTID=6776 ) Now I'm not sure of the advantages or disadvantages of USB has to regular RCA microphones. I'm assuming since it's usb, then it shouldn't be fucked up by the soundboard. But is there any other reasons why USB is better, or vice versa?

The fuzziness is a common problem with analog sound. It shouldn't matter whether you get rca or usb microphone, just look for one with a good sound filter on the actual mic.

please tell me you're not making i hate yuo myg0t 3 k

i might in the future, just to spite your dumb ass.

and you're off-topic, so get out.

edit: and v0dka, you know any microphones well known for their quality (besides studio mics lols)

i am using the the microphone from my webcam i never use. (Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000). works perfectly with any game/voice comm. i'd go for the USB solution. I used to have a Plantronics RCA mic but the little stupid mic in my webcam sounds way better.

wish I knew SG..I use an old Radio Shack 1/4 inch jack mic and plug into my SB Audigy2 Z5....never hisses or gets fuzzy.

Why would the USB mic be any different in performance?...you're still using the same sound board source right?

do you have a sound card and a built-in-sound on your MOBO?

if so, then try changing to the other sound source.....I done that in the past and it made a difference. I used to pick up assholes in the neighborhood that were using illegal CB power bands...I changed from the Card to the MOBO on board sound....made a huge diff and got rid of the CB guys.

eh. i dont like headsets. i like to get full use out of my surround sound. i never found a mic that was ever clear. everyone on css bitches about how it sounds like shit.

Thats different. CS:S downgrades sound quality so it doesnt take up as much bandwidth.

Right now I have a Logitech Interent Chat Headset and it has really good quality.

By the way there is no such thing as a 'sound board', only sound cards and onboard audio.

i use a normal set of headphones as a mic... plug them into your mic port and talk into to the earphones. it will work
I have a USB mic and I personally don't like it. I use a Plantronics cell phone microphone and a converter to be able to use it. Works fine for me.

so i fucked up.....

i wrote that at 5:45 am and was seeing all fuzzy...gimme a break.

This is a "SOUND BOARD"^^^^^

Thanks Vinnie for pointing that out.

Lol, fuzzy.

Besides I thought we were talking computers specifically.

you are correct sir.

Your sig ownz my face ...SHUT......THE.......FUCK......UP.... nice

SG I would think that RCA headphones are far superior than anything thats usb and just made for the computer. It really depends on how much money you're willing to spend.

i don't really want to spend more than 30 dollars. i don't need extremely crisp audio, i just want it to be clear enough so there isn't a constant fuzzyness in the background. plus, like i said before, i think the fact that the RCA MICROphones (you said microphones, not sure if that was a typo or you misread) are shitty sounding is just because of my old soundblaster live! whereas usb microphones just go into a usb port and not directly through soundcard.

If they sued to sound good, and no longer have the same quality while all of the mics pic up the same shit, it is either your soundcard, or interference. You can pick up a basic soundcard for 10 dollars or less, cheaper than you could get a usb microphone.

The soundcard still processes the audio, so it goes through the Soudblaster Live! card anyways.

And I still recommend the Logitech Internet Chat headset.

i always wear headphones, and these are probably better than the headset's speakers (unless those aol hillbillys need to have surround sound so they can hear the voices as if they actually had friends in reallife)

but i guess i should get a new soundcard :( which brings us to a new subject! :wow: what's a cheap and okay soundcard that doesn't suck more than my soundblaster live (be more specific than 'everything!' plz)
