Posted March 22, 200520 yr sorry if this is ofn, but http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=7322 Says that Duke Nukem: Forever will pwn Half-Life 2's physics engine. you can fully destruct everything all realisticly and stuff. there was somthing about a cloth spread between two poles and you could manipulate both the polls and the cloth would stretch and bend realisticly, and they put some tennis balls onto the cloth and they would roll on the cloth and effect it's shape, ect.
March 22, 200520 yr That's impossible on todays equipment, do you know how much processing would go into a completely destructable enviroment with realistic physics? Maybe when it comes out in 10 years we'll be able to play it.
March 22, 200520 yr I dunno, it said they tested it on a medium-spec labtop, and they showed a real-time demo of it to some people. Doesn't matter though, since Duke Nukem: Forever to come out will take... forever.
March 22, 200520 yr we've already been waiting close to a decade for that piece of shit game, so what it has deformable cloth and breakable cups and tables thats not the reason people play games.
March 22, 200520 yr Well not really breakable tables + cups but the actual wall was shot at, and deformed. And the pieces that broke off could be kicked, ect. Dunno but it could make a great construction / garrys mod type of thing.
March 22, 200520 yr Rigid body physics have been around since the PS1 days, and Splinter Cell already has soft body physics for cloth, so it's nothing new. It's the same physics just with more collision detection.

March 22, 200520 yr that is bs you would need ppu (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/ageia-announces-dedicated-physics-processing-unit-035390.php) to run the game, and they arn't even out of development yet.
March 22, 200520 yr 4wn0fF473']that is bs you would need ppu (http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/ageia-announces-dedicated-physics-processing-unit-035390.php) to run the game' date=' and they arn't even out of development yet.[/quote'] That's awesome, I'm going to keep a eye on that.
March 22, 200520 yr why are idiots still believing their lies; they haven't done one ounce of work on that peice of shit non-existent game, they just brag about it all the time.
March 22, 200520 yr These are the phyics that will be in duke nukem, download the demo and play with it. http://www.meqon.com/downloadarea/downloadarea.php
March 22, 200520 yr Stoned Gorilla']why are idiots still believing their lies; they haven't done one ounce of work on that peice of shit non-existent game' date=' they just brag about it all the time.[/quote']the moose fucker above explains it all.
March 22, 200520 yr and they put some tennis balls onto the cloth and they would roll on the cloth and effect it's shape, ect. omfg you dont know how long ive been waiting for a game that will have such good physics as to see a tennis ball roll on cloth. holy mother of god
March 22, 200520 yr Finally games will be able to accurately recreate your balls rubbing against the inside of your pants.
March 22, 200520 yr I don't really care for games that re-create the physical world we live in. Playing video games is supposed to be about a superficial realm with extended boundaries for science and imagination. Fuck the laws of energy and fuck Wayne Newton.
March 22, 200520 yr Gabe Newell and the bozos over at Valve are so retarded for shouting about their real physics crap when countless other games also have real physics like Thief: Deadly Shadows.
March 22, 200520 yr always been a fan of duke.... Its multiplayer was cool in the day too... The game physics today are so good that i couldt see how it could surpass what there is today... well; they could do light minimizing time in water, using real calculations, um.... perhaps better code that follows what a physics book deems correct.... other cool things like radius of gyration and centriods would be neat... like a real sea-saw or something..... Ahh who am i kidding, those computer nerd dont understand all of that stuff.
