Posted March 23, 200520 yr Utah's governor signed a bill on Monday that would require Internet providers to block Web sites deemed pornographic and could also target e-mail providers and search engines. Whole article can be found here: http://news.com.com/Utah+governor+signs+Net-porn+bill/2100-1028_3-5629067.html?part=rss&tag=5629067&subj=news Lets hope this gets rule unconstitutional. I may not live in the idiot Mormon run state but if this is allowed to go through I won't be surprised if the Christians in other states start pushing similar shit.
March 23, 200520 yr Is it an all out ban or does it just force the ISP to provide the subscriber with the option to block the sites on the list? I thought I read it was the latter.
March 23, 200520 yr Wait a second. Does that mean that ISP's now have to find the IP's to all the porn sites on the intraweb and then block them from their customers? If you ask me that'll take a lot of time and effort (money) which ISP's shouldn't be liable to execute. That's bullshit. Therefore ISP charges go up and everyone loses because Mormons have to have their way.

OMP you can't just generalize all Christians. Not all Christians care to ban pornography. Like Arnold Schwarzenegger (however the fuck you spell his name) is technically a Christian but he's liberal about pornography. Those mormons don't speak for everyone.

Those mormons don't speak for everyone. you're either christian or not. those "Sunday-only" christians don't count. fucking mormons. what are all the virgin losers in utah gonna wank off to now?
March 23, 200520 yr Well I personally think the ruling is fucking stupid too, wasn't saying I didn't.
March 23, 200520 yr Author Is it an all out ban or does it just force the ISP to provide the subscriber with the option to block the sites on the list? I thought I read it was the latter. It's not clear enough legal wise to say for certain. It's stated intention was to force ISPs to block it if the subscriber requests it, but legally speaking it's pretty wide open and would get applied to other things.
March 23, 200520 yr Its ridiculous though, how the hell is an ISP going to find all sites "deemed pornographic". Where is the line drawn between what is allowed and what isn't. Not to mention new porn sites pop up every day. I have a lot of trouble believing that they could block all porno sites, and nothing else. Lots of internet filters filter useful shit; back in grade 8 I had to do a report on Walt Disney, and the Walt Disney website was blocked for containing "offensive material". No way the government could get the ISP's to do it anyways.

What do these politicians think this is, 1984? There's no Junior Anti-Sex League here, move along.
March 24, 200520 yr stop the porno but really, why? how does it affect society in any way that isn't positive california makes hella money off pornos...
March 24, 200520 yr theMinkey']stop the porno but really, why? how does it affect society in any way that isn't positive california makes hella money off pornos... omfg a cannuck speaking like a cali that word is spreading like a goddamn disease
March 24, 200520 yr Morons don't like Porn !! It upsets our Multiple wives !!! LOL....yuuup. I lived in Utah in the early 80's....theyre' fucked. Those fuckers require 10% of your income to be taken away out of your pay check to go to the Mormon church. Unless you tell them to fuck off. Like omp said...one thing leads to another and everybody's porn is takin away.... government sucks...they're getting bored and want to enforce new bullshit laws.
March 24, 200520 yr why not just ask the isp's to deny internet access to mormons? problem solved rofl
March 24, 200520 yr damn, all i can say is if it passes I feel sorry for the mygots who live in utah. what will they do on their friday nights :(
March 24, 200520 yr Shouldn't they be busy enforcing and refining old laws rather than trying to impose more bullshit on us? Makes me laugh that people actually consider themself patriotic and good citizen's by promoting these things, even though its blatently unconstitutional. ignorance is bliss.
March 24, 200520 yr omfg a cannuck speaking like a cali that word is spreading like a goddamn disease actaully i downloaded a video that i thought was porn but it was really a documentary and i watched it anyway
