Internet2 is only a few years away which blows everything out of the water.

(we are talking Gb/s)

korea already has 1 Gb/s fiber straight to gooks houses, america is way behind in speedy intarwebs. kix your community has to be one of those that have been set up by verizon for fiber before you can sign up for that, you know.

That link is from one of my friends in florida, he's getting the service next month. Also I havn't seen any fiber optic connections here. the best thing we have here is DSL. No cable modems as far as I know.

damn I thought you'd be the FIRST one to post that. oh and btw you pc is alomst a month old you better get a new one cuz it's "SOOOOO OLD YOU FAIL"

Man thats both old and slow. Here in sweden we already have 1gbps connections :S
mother fuckers, you can get 30 mbs per sec (!!!) for 45 dollars, thats 25 pounds in the uk, thats the price of my 500k broadband lol, uk sucks with internet.....

DOOB THATS RIDIC YO

People are missing the point, yes this is old for countries like sweden, germany, and korea. They are way ahead of the network curve than here in the US. However, this is a fairly new thing for America to have fiberoptics 30MBPS lines. Also no, Sweden does not have 1 GBPS lines, dont lie. I dont even think they are in existance. Thats 1024MBps.

Learn to count your 0's. I said "100 Mbit" wich means megabits.

The newspaper said we'll have 30-40 GBit connections in 2007. Private use. Then.. ..I WILL DD0S YUO ALL!!1

Internet2 has been in planning for over a decade and it will never actually become mainstream and replace the current internet.

rifkles

so why are we just NOW being able to get it if it's been around for SOOO long huh?

Wtf do you think your ISP's/hosting companies' backbones are made of? Fiber has been around forever. Go take Cisco 1 k.

It's generally NOT for the average home user, lack of interest = not available. If it is available, you'd be paying a pretty penny for it.

Actually the same guys using/making INternet2 were the first ones to use/make Internet...That never caught on either did it?
