Internet2 is only a few years away which blows everything out of the water.

(we are talking Gb/s)

Ummm no? I2 is strictly Edu and research places, and not likely to become public for a LONG time.

Wtf do you think your ISP's/hosting companies' backbones are made of? Fiber has been around forever. Go take Cisco 1 k.

It's generally NOT for the average home user, lack of interest = not available. If it is available, you'd be paying a pretty penny for it.

OH yeah $50 a month yeah that's a pretty penny all right. Damn I'm glad I only pay $50 for my DSL, cuz I don't want to move up to that. :jerkit2:

I would imagine if one of the fiber optic things got crimped at all, it would hurt the overall performance... But that's jsut a guess...

If you can get it, I don't see why not. But chances are you can't get it, so don't worry about it.

Wtf will be the difference between internet 2 and internet 1..The internet is constantly updating and changing you can't fuckin completely uproot it and make another

OMFG! U FUCKIN NOOOOOBZ... :ughwerd:

Internet 1 sends yuor packets though a gay copper wire as electricity. Internet2 has a "translator" at you'r end of the line that translates yuor packets into light signals, theyse signals fly though the fiber optic wire (that is just a long round mirror), when the light hits the "translator" at your ISP, it gets translated back to electic signals.

Dont u just feel like stepping on this long glass wire?

mother fuckers, you can get 30 mbs per sec (!!!) for 45 dollars, thats 25 pounds in the uk, thats the price of my 500k broadband lol, uk sucks with internet.....

dude you are getting ripped off, you can get 2mb for that price (and less) in the uk

I stand corrected, and graciously leave this thread proven to be a retard.

Actually the same guys using/making INternet2 were the first ones to use/make Internet...That never caught on either did it?

no they're not. They're two completely different groups of people.

What exactly is Internet2? From what I've read, it's the same thing, just on IPv6.

Your ignorance is encyclopedic.
