Posted June 11, 200519 yr Considering this forum is overflowing with newbies (read: teenage morons), I figured I'd post a thread with a few useful programs that I've found pretty invaluable. Bonus: All of it is freeware. Crap Cleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com - Useful utility for finding that hidden crap on your computer that needs to be deleted. Much faster and more useful than MS Disk Cleanup. Picasa 2 - http://www.picasa.com - This program will search your entire computer or only your My Documents crap, automatically sort said pictures into subgroups, and allow you to do batch fuctions to them. It also has one of the best simple photo enhancers I've ever seen. Give it a try if you take a lot of photos with a digital camera or have some shoddy screen captures of snuff porn. Whatever. Rainlendar - http://www.ipi.fi/~rainy/index.php?pn=projects&project=rainlendar[\url] - This is a great little app. It puts a small transperant calendar/to do list/event list on your desktop. You can even set it to where it always remains on top and is click-throughable. FoxitReader - http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php Face it, all products by Adobe take forever to load and are total fucking bloatware. Well, here is an app that weighs in under 2.5 MB that loads pretty much instantly with none of that annoying Adobe splash-screen bullcrap. PDFCreator - http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator - A utility that allows you to "Print" anything that you could normally print into a PDF file. HoverSnap - http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm - I love this fucking utility. It's a snapshot tool that allows you to configure your screen shots to auto resize, change to several formats, and all sorts of other handy crap. Under 500kbs decompressed. <3 TClockEX - http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex/ - This thing alters the Windows Taskbar clock, allowing the user to configure it however they want. Great for me because military time/24 hour clock > *. Anyhow, hope some of you find these utilities useful.

June 11, 200519 yr ScreenPrint 32 v3 is the best screenshot tool. Bunch of features. ACE utilities is the best cleanup tool (looks for duplicated files, reg cleaner, shortcut cleaner, crap files, etc..) And who cares if its freeware. Feel free to post expensive tools if theyre better than than the free ones.
June 11, 200519 yr VLC Media Player - open source, plays just about anything. The people behind the program are concerned about patent legislation and may remove the software soon, so grab it NOW. VideoLan: http://www.videolan.org/ Doug
