July 2, 200519 yr the movie was pretty dark, which was very fitting, but I think it would have benfitted from a bit more "graphic" action, as it's pg-13 rating (What it got here in the US) sort of put a damper on some of the mayhem that could have been. The little screaming girl was also pretty annoying, and I wished serveral times during the film one of the tripods would just crush her. As far as the visuals, they were great!

July 3, 200519 yr i actually liked it a lot up until the end, the son should of stayed dead, and they should have extended it even just 30 minutes to have mor resolution, explain some more in detail about the aliens or the history of it, ect. the little girl was annoying, but she was supposed to be, thats how her character was in the book as well, we had people getting pissed and yelling stfu at her in the theater tho, was sort of funny. the fact we didnt actually defeat the aliens ourselves sucked some too, they just died and it was over, humans didnt have to do anything, BUT they could of, as was shown from what tom cruise did and what they said the gooks had done to stop some of them, which is why i say if theye xtended it for 30-45 more monutes, and elft the son dead, it would of been good. i havnt read the book myself, but a couple of friends who have said the movie follows it almost exactly.
