Its just like what happened to punk, it became they cool trend and while there are REAL punk kids that listen to REAL punk bands, there are also people who listen to garbage like sum41 and say thats punk. HARDCORE is now the same way, youve got REAL hardcore kids that have been going to hardcore shows for years no matter how popular it was, then you have these fake ass trend followers that are just in it because its the kEwL thing to do this summer. its alright though, hopfully next year hardcore wont be so trendy and all these kids will get into the next big thing.

Hardcore today is typically defined by hard hitting breakdowns and other shit like that. Emo stands for 'emotional' therefore you can catergorize everything from Seal to Mariah Carey as EMO, but as it means today, it's harmonizing guitar with songs about how much you hate life or your girlfriend dumping you etc. Punk is NOT afi whoever posted that. Misfits ARE mainstream. Anything sold at hot-topic is mainstream, as much as you want to say their not so you can feel special about being 'underground'. Listen to what you like weather or not it makes you cool dipshits. I listen to half the bands listed here, but I listen to just about everything. I stick to Hardcore (the finnish/sweedish thrash punk style hardcore, not tobe confused with the american hardcore, who hijacked the term) d-beat, thrash, grind, gore, and tech. death metal.
